A Proud Part of Grande Yellowhead Public School Division

What We Do

Success Coaches facilitate in-class and school-wide mental health programs. These are:

  • Planned in collaboration with the teacher and the principal to address current needs and trends

  • Focused on mental health education and awareness

  • Delivered to all students, not targeted to individual students

  • Designed to build a teacher's capacity for teaching mental health-focused material, therefore the teacher must be present during in-class programming

  • Available as site-specific crisis support across the division as needed

Success Coaches provide parent information sessions. These are:

  • Provided as needed based on community and school needs
  • Provided periodically throughout the school year depending upon the Success Coach's time and availability

Success coaches collaborate with community agencies. They do this by:

  • Providing information and guidance about mental health programs to local youth- and family-serving agencies

  • Meeting with community agencies to discuss community-specific trends and needs affecting children, youth, and families

  • Participating in community events to share information about youth mental health

  • Assisting in planning community events and initiatives that aim to improve youth and family mental health

Success Coaches and the B.E.S.T. program supports GYPSD staff by:

  • Providing mental health education, including ways to improve individual mental wellness, to staff

  • Leading mental health education sessions for staff as needed
